“So what’s with the dot in your name?” you may ask.
The company is registered formally as Zmudzki Consulting. However, after living in America for 30 years under the dot-stripped name of Marcin Zmudzki (and actually becoming American somewhere along the way), Marcin Żmudzki has decided to flaunt the dot above his first “Z” simply because technology has made it so easy. “It looks better and allows you to pronounce it properly, so why not? It feels so liberating to finally show the dot!” said the company president. “It’s like going back to your roots without leaving… American suburbia.”
If the diacritical mark presents any problem to you, you can skip it when writing to us or about us. You also do not have to worry about how to say it right. Marcin and his wife Katarzyna, who serves as the company’s business manager, are used to hearing many different renditions of their name. Interestingly, Katarzyna, who acquired her current married name in the United States, maintains that she is Katarzyna Zmudzki — not Żmudzki, Żmudzka or Zmudzka.
To make things easier for their neighbors, the Żmudzkis have named their local IT services practice Falls Church Tech Support.
